Staying connected
While Retirement Village residents love the peaceful serenity of our beautiful Wauchope location, they still enjoy getting amongst the hustle of bustle of Port Macquarie – especially when shopping is involved!
When residents expressed their keenness to start regular trips to Port Macquarie, Bill, an avid volunteer and resident himself, jumped at the chance to drive them in Bundaleer’s very own bus.
Every month, Bill takes them on a scenic drive to shop at the Settlement City Shopping Centre.
With lots of laughter and stories to share along the way, it’s always a special time for neighbours to socialise and connect with each other – and the wider community.
Bill says, “Residents enjoy having a leisurely browse through the big brand stores, purchasing items that aren’t available in Wauchope, and staying connected with locals.”
“Many residents no longer drive so I love that I can volunteer my time to provide this service. It’s a great day out for all – the sights and sounds of the shopping centre are always lots of fun. And of course, we like to take a popular detour through the McDonald’s drive through for an ice-cream on the way back!”
