Bundaleer Home Care helping Loy spend quality time with her mum
Since starting with Bundaleer Home Care, Loy is able to spend more quality time with her Mum, Joyce. “Knowing Mum can live safely and independently in her own home is so important to both of us,” says Loy. “The visits support her with social connection, outings and daily care, and I’m free to just be her daughter, instead of her carer.”
“Family is everything to me,” she says. “When Mum became frailer, we arranged for her to receive daily visits from Bundaleer Home Care. The team administers her medication and assists her with other daily tasks and activities. Importantly, they also provide much needed social support.”
Loy says the staff at Bundaleer have been nothing short of amazing. Case Manager, Tanya, has been responsive, compassionate and always willing to adapt services to meet her Mum’s changing needs.
Joyce has also developed lovely relationships with her carers. Kylie has become a trusted, cherished companion, taking her on outings and gently encouraging her to stay active and connected with the community. On one visit, Kylie sent Loy a photograph of Joyce proudly standing beside the Big Bottlebutt Tree after walking 270 metres – such an incredible achievement for her! And, Kathy who visits on Sundays, has a shared love of shoes. She likes to surprise Joyce wearing different colourful shoes each visit.
Bundaleer Home Care’s support has made all the difference for both Loy and Joyce. “I was initially overwhelmed at how to get started, but they made it so easy and helped me every step of the way,” she says.
“Now, Mum can live independently in her own home – something both of us value. When I visit, we spend quality time together doing things we love. I feel incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful team walking this journey with us.”
