Bundaleer Aged Care kickstarting careers in aged care
Bundaleer Aged Care has welcomed three students from Newman’s College who are about to commence a school-based traineeship and Certificate III in Individual Support.
The students will be using Bundaleer Aged Care as a living classroom while they undertake a two-year traineeship and gain valuable hands-on experience while working part time in our community.
Residential Service Manager, Suveesh, says the regular intake of students has proved very successful so far. “The education and experience will open doors for the students and give them a head start in a growing industry with lots of opportunities. At the same time, it helps us build a permanent workforce with dedicated staff from the local community,” he says.
The initiative is a partnership between Bundaleer Aged Care, Newman’s College and Charles Sturt University and aims to overcome one of the biggest challenges facing regional aged care providers – staffing.
Previous student, Akalita, who has joined the team, says, “I’m really enjoying being part of such a caring team. I’ve learned so much working with them and gained practical experience. The staff here are caring, supportive and always put residents first.”
