Afternoon tunes at Bundaleer Aged Care
Every Thursday afternoon, sixteen residents at Bundaleer Aged Care gather for their weekly choir practice and the joyful sound of song can be heard across the Community.
For almost two years, these silver singers have come together for a cherished ritual of friendship and music. Under the guidance of their devoted conductor and pianist, volunteer Judith, they are led through a repertoire of songs, from timeless classics to holiday favourites.
Resident, Jenny, loves the camaraderie and seeing her friends enjoy themselves at Choir practice. “I love singing with like-minded people,” she says. “Our next performance is planned for Christmas and we’re hard at work practising for that. Singing for our family and friends is something we really look forward to.”
This Christmas, the Choir is hoping to perform for their Bundaleer Aged Care friends and family, as well as other aged care communities in Wauchope. The Choir performs on other special occasions too, like Easter and ANZAC Day.
There is always room for more voices. “Everyone is welcome, even if you haven’t sung before,” says Suveesh. “It’s social, fun and a chance to try something new”.
